I hate the phrase ‘I’ll save you from the pirates’. I don’t care what anyone says, it was not sexy, it was not filled with UST, it was creepy and unsettling at the time. I mean did you see the fear in her eyes when he said it?

Now that we know Zuko’s true nature it’s still not sexy, just awkward because he probably thought sounded really cool, but it was kind of lame. Really Zuko?

I just really dislike when people ship because of that line, because what…do you ship stockholm syndrome or something? “Ooh Zuko you’re capturing me that’s hot.”

Just…just no, guys. I’m probably one of the biggest Zutarians around, but I really hate this line.

I love Zutara, but my only thought when I watched that scene the first time was, “wow this boy needs help”. Now I just think, “Oh Zuzu, you really have got to work on your one-liners.” It is not anything I would ever base a relationship on, ever, and yes, Katara is genuinely freaked out by it. Not turned on. Though we all know now Zuko would never hurt her, that scene was just all kinds of awkward.

Granted, I have read some pretty decent first season Zutara fics, but I have a hard time with those because I don’t see it happening at that point, ever. I also don’t see them actually happening till post-series anyway… but that’s another rant all together.

Basically, the point here is, Stockholm Syndrom is bad kids, mmmkay?

This. S01 Zutara is NOT OTP material IMO. Ugh, this reminded me of certain fics I wish I hadn’t read.

Thank you! I really like Zuko/Katara as a pairing, but I’ve always disliked this being used as shipping evidence.
